As with any material, evaluation of the material under end-use conditions prior to specification is essential. Therefore, specific testing under actual conditions is recommended. Ti-5Al-2.5Sn is a medium-strength alloy with excellent weldability. It has good oxidation resistance and intermediate strength at service temperatures up to 480°C (900°F). The primary use is for cyrogenic applications, in which the ELI grade has good strength and toughness for low temperatures. It has been replaced by Ti-6Al-4V in *C001 applications.
